ProGood metering system,Lightweight, easy to use , good embended flash,
low battery consumption,Accurate AF system ,AF assistance.
ContraNoisy,no heavy construction. No good feeling (Like child's toy).
For me,my oter film camera Minolta 7000a of '85 is much better.
ThoughtsGood only for beginners and amateurs.

Prolight weight; metal mount; fast access (with a simple lever move) to a double preset program (for example sport + A program f. 5.6); input for remote control, good flash without red-eye affection; makes always a picture more than the expected (for example 25 with a 24 film); spot exposure.
ContraNo possibility of changing the focusing screen; x-sync a little slow; a little noisy.
ThoughtsI also have a 600 si classic. The 500 super is preferred when using long zoom lenses (300 - 500 mm.).

ThoughtsGood Camera. I also have a 600si and a 9xi and the 500si is my favorite for holidays and "walk-about". Its light and has a great metering system. Autofocus is quite good but it does tend to hunt in low light.
