| Pro | - fast and accurate AF, in low-light situations much better than the more expensive EOS-30
- excellent metering
- related to price very well featured
- usable built-in flash |
| Contra | - too plasticy body with a weak silver finish, easy to mark with signs of use |
| Thoughts | - together with the 50/1.8 lens the EOS-300V is a cheap, light-weight and good performing tool for travel photography |

| Pro | - vastly improved AF compared to its predecessor, also usable in low light
- nice control layout and handling
- a relatively bright viewfinder
- reliable metering
- small and light-weight! |
| Contra | - a little odd looking. The silver finish is not up to my taste
- lots of plastic but at least a metal mount |
| Thoughts | A very capable camera probably offering the best bang for the bucks in the Canon line-up! |

| Pro | I am new in photography and would like to learn about it.
Although it is in the digital era but I still want to learn from what my father's experience with the conventional one which is SLR. After finding lots information, at last I decided to stop and buy the Canon's product and start with the new EOS 300V+date. I am Indonesian and I bought this camera in Jakarta 3 weeks ago. I like the model, because it is simple and has a broad functioanlities. For a beginner like me, I think this camera will suit to my needs. I like to take a family picture, landcaping and macro. I started shooting object with already 3 or 4 rolls of film. As the result, in general I would say it is good. |
| Contra | There is something I would like ask If somebody experience along with it. I notice when I use this camera with the date function 'ON', the result I got on the photo was the date printed with a "shadow" on it. Do you know why ? |
| Thoughts | Good !! |

| Pro | Ideal EOS travel camera, it is light, with accurate focusing and superb ergonomics. The new curved grip and large and lit LCD on the back are positive implementations. Metal lens mount is a welcomed addition.
Together with a fast and light lens (35 f/2, or 50 f/1.4), it is a no-hassle picture taking tool, dependent and reliable. |
| Contra | Some things are missing, but then this is the basic EOS, so overall it is indeed a good package. My sample overexposes E100VS by 1/3, in all metering options, so I just tweak the ISO setting to 125. The joining area with the BP220 is not as seemless as in the 30, for instance, but I do recommend it anyway. It saves breaking the plastic hinge of the battery door, probably, and it improves the handling of the camera for me. |
| Thoughts | I have always had an entry-level EOS camera around in my kit (from the original 1000 to this one), and I have learned to trust them as providing a small, light, and reliable camera body for traveling light with one or two light lenses. This 300V is better than the 300, which in itself is an accomplishment. For such a small and cheap camera, it is worth every cent. |
