ProVery easy to handle, not too expensive. 13 years happy use. Great camera to start with.
Contrashutter problems, plastic look.slow AF, needs a lot of contrast.
ThoughtsCamera feels good, easy to make good photo's. After a while it is not enough anymore.

ProCheap and light. No worry if you drop it, just buy another. A great back-up to my new EOS33. I use it instead of the EOS33 when going into high-risk places like small boats , the snow etc
ContraPlastic lens mount.
ThoughtsYou get what you pay for but good value just the same.

ProEnough modes for everyone at this price point, built in flash, cheap to buy 2nd hand. Good viewfinder information (+/- EV scale nice). External LCD has nice big numbers and is easy to read. Light (because its plastic).
ContraNo DOF or remote shutter release ('B' setting is nearly useless). Back mounted buttons difficult to operate. Not ideal for those who have glasses. 2 stage shutter button has little 'feel'. Plastic (so its light).
ThoughtsDespite minor shortcommings a good multimode camera that can be used in almost any situation from point and shoot to full control. My first EOS, the newer EOS cameras just improve what you get on this model. One minor gripe is that the shutter is 2 stage and takes a bit of getting used to. It is very hard to tell when it has got to the first (auto focus) setting. If you forget the lens is in manual focus mode, or you are a bit ham fisted, and keep pushing on the shutter (waiting for the auto focus to snap into action) then you end up with inadvertant and/or out of focus shots. For a 10 year old base model 10/10.

ProI have had this camera for 10 years now and it still works good. With my Zomm AF Cosina 100-400, works fine. And, with the Cokin filters takes goods pics.
ContraLack of DOF preview. Slow flash sync speed, but... it's of 1991 year!
ThoughtsI love my camera...

ProLight and cheap.
ContraThis camera meant to be an entry level. For this it is not a good option. The damn machine has B shutter speed but no possibility for extern shutter release. Lacking DOF in Additionmakes it no good choice for a learning camera.
ThoughtsI have had this camera for 10 years now and it still works good.

ProVery light weight body. Easy handling. Has
lots of features in relation to the cheap price.
ContraIt's all plastic down to the lens mount. The viewfinder is quite dull. AF performance usable but outdated. Obviously no high- performance body but it was never intended to be one anyway.
ThoughtsA nice secondary body and still a good body to start with. It doesn't offer all the bells and whistles but the primary functions are there - even partial metering.
